One of my goals this year is to learn something new every single month. In January I learned how to stay on top of things. February on the other hand…
No matter how hard I tried to plan ahead, every single weekend in February we had something going on – some things were rather pleasant though. ๐
I really hope that this was the busiest month of the year and that things will start slowing down from here onward, but I donโt really believe that. As we are getting closer to my deadlines and exams, life is getting busier and busier.
FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS
The only highlight of February, besides long working days and everyday vet visits (my cat needed a surgery right in the beginning of the month and her recovery has been very slow, but she is finally feeling better and I donโt need to see my vet every day anymoreโฆ only every other day ๐ ) was our trip to Spain!
We live nearby, itโs only an hour drive to the border, so I decided to organize a little weekend getaway and enjoy the early spring (summer?!) sunshine. โค
We stayed at the hotel near Seville, and on our first day drove to Malaga. Itโs actually incredible how different Spain is from Portugal. Only a few hours away by car and we literally ended up in a tropical town. I have no idea why we donโt have that many palm trees here, but apparently they thrive in the south of Spain!
And during our 2nd day in Spain, we went to Alcazar in Seville (where the Dorn bits of Game of Thrones were filmed!!! ๐ ) The garden on the top right and the inside courtyard on the bottom left are from Alcazar and both appear in episodes of the Game of Thrones.
The weather was amazing, the views beautiful and we also tasted some amazing local food! It was such a great little getaway and honestly, two days was more than enough to see the sights, rest our heads and prepare for the next working week.
MONTHLY GOALS CHECK-IN
X | 1 โ Start the Witcher book series. Nope, didn’t happen. As much as I liked the TV show, committing myself to a 10(?) book series is very scary and I’ve been pushing it towards the end of the months. I honestly don’t think that I will start it next month, and probably should just wait until after the exams. |
X | 2 โ Read more ARCs. I read some ARCs (only 2) so I can’t say that I completely failed this goal. Hopefully, in March I’ll be able to read a lot more. |
X | 3 โ Participate in the Cosmerealong โ starting with ยซElantrisยป. That haven’t happened yet! I’m still planning to participate in this read-a-thon and have a couple of weeks to catch up. ยซElantrisยป is definitely going to be on my March TBR. |
โ | 4 โ Join Kaylaโs (Booksandlala) Book Club โ February pick โ โThe Other Peopleโ by C. J. Tudor. Yes! The only goal I was successful at! ยซThe Other Peopleยป was the second book I read in February and really loved it. In my opinion, it’s C.J.Tudor’s best novel so far. ๐ |
X | 5 โ Stay on top of blog posts and my to-do list. For the first three weeks I was doing alright, but this last week of February I wasn’t able to prepare the posts ahead of time. |
MONTHLY READING STATS

Look at that! I actually stuck with my initial TBR! Sadly, I didn’t have time to read all 10 books as planned, but I read 5 and currently finishing the 6th one – ยซThe Divinersยป by Libba Bray, which I’m lovng so much. So overall, February was still a pretty good reading month, especially because I loved most of the books I read.
ยซThe Keeper of the Lost Citiesยป and ยซThe Divinersยป were both a very pleasant surprise, and I’m planning to continue reading these series in March and April.
Unfortunately, ยซWicked Saintsยป didn’t live up to my expectations. It wasn’t horrible, but it also wasn’t as incredible as people said it was.
I’ll be adding to my March TBR all of the unread books from below:

Thank you, hun! I’m glad we went there before all the quarantine and border control happened. Who knows for how long we will need all to stay inside and keep safe.

Iโm happy that your cat if starting to feel better. Thatโs amazing that you went to Spain. I love the photos! ๐ I actually stuck with my TBR too, although I didnโt read every single book on my list either. Iโve been wanting to read The Diviners for so long now. I think I bought the book in 2015 (or 2016) and never got around to read it. Wicked Saints didnโt live up to my expectations either, sadly. I hope you have a great March. โค

Thank you! And wow, look at us sticking to our TBRs ๐ The Diviners was A LOT OF FUN! Highly recommend it. It was kinda long though. I always feel overwhelmed when reading long books on Kindle, much preferring the physical books so I can actually see how far I am. I’m planning on continuing the series in May or June, once I tackle that ginormous ARC list D: Lol

We went to Spain just at the right time. Who could have known that just a week after everyone would be canceling their trips abroad. The weather was amazing, almost summer-y, the views so beautiful. โค
I hope you got to read Stephen King book this month! Elevation was very good (and short, which is also nice from time to time. Lol). ๐

Surprisingly the weather in February was better than in March :O It felt like summer, and now it’s raining and getting chilly again. I love rainy days though, especially since we are not allowed to go outside. ๐ Working from home isn’t ideal though and I keep getting distracted by other things. Lol
Yay! Have it arrived yet??? Maybe you already read it? It took me almost 20 days to finally sit down and reply to all the comments :O

I have to agree with you on that, February had some really warm weather and it was very strange. March has been cool and yes rainy and miserable.
It makes me sad that we can’t go out, I’ll be happy when all this is over!
Yes! It did arrive, for some reason my book depository order came in two separate orders and that was the first I got. I haven’t read it yet, haha! But I am thinking about reading it soon since I’m running out of library books! ๐ฎ

Your trip looked like heaps and heaps of fun!
I loved the Witcher too, but 10 books is super daunting.
It looks like reading went well for you this month ๐
I wish you (and your cat) all the best for March

Thank you โค The cat is feeling much better. She is still wearing the collar but her wound is nearly healed, a couple more days and she will be a collar-free cat. She is so funny though, trying to wash herself while just licking the collar *facepalm*
