August 2019 | Monthly Goals – NEWTs, ARCs, and other acronyms

I hope you all had a very productive July and enjoyed the Reading Rush readathon! The Reading Rush, formerly Booktube-a-thon, is by far one of my favorite read-a-thons. I love how big the reading community is, how many events happen in just one week and the need to push myself to read just a little bit more to complete all the challenges!

This one week of intensive reading got me out of the reading slump and made me excited again about picking up new books. So my August goals might seem too ambitious but I’m going to try and read as much as I can.

AUGUST GOALS:

1 – Participate in the NEWTs (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test) Magical Readathon, hosted by BookRoast.

According to the rules of this read-a-thon, you need to read the books in order of their grades. So if you wish to get an O in a particular subject, you must read the books for “E” and “A” first. So I just spent 15 minutes trying to see if I can read the second book in the Grisha trilogy before reading the book I chose for the “A” grade… The problem is I don’t own the hardcover of «Siege and Storm» so I don’t know if it’s black under the dust jacket. If you do own a copy, please let me know! 😀

2 – Continue reading ARCs during the ARC August!

I managed to read 6 ARCs last month and most of them were amazing! Especially «Three Ways to Disappear» by Katy Yocom! So I want to continue working on my NetGalley queue and knock off some more ARCs off the list. These are the ARCs I might read this month:

3 – Join the NetGalley #Reviewathon

And try to post as many reviews as possible. My NetGalley ratio is at 84%, and anything above 80 is good for me. So I want to keep it this way, especially if I’ll request more ARCs in the future.

4 – Continue 20 Books of Summer challenge!

This challenge consists of reading AND reviewing 20 books during the summer. The last day is September 3rd. I’m actually doing great so far. I read 18 / 20 books and reviewed 15 / 20 books. Not all reviews will be posted on my blog, the shorter ones will remain on my GoodReads page.

  1. WHOA that’s awesome that you’re so far along with reading AND reviewing 20 books this summer!! I currently have a backlog of a bunch of reviews I need to write… but my mind is like “why don’t we read more books instead???” 🙂 Best of luck with all of your goals!

  2. You go girl! I believe in you! I know you’ll be able to write those reviews *sends Canadian powers to you* 😂
Good luck with your NEWTS! I’m sure you’ll rock those as well! Sounds like you’ve got quite a packed month, which is always exciting! 🙂 💞

  3. My only goal for August is to manage my TBR! haha I’m also participating in the NEWTs readathon and so far, I’m a bit behind. I also wanted to start preparing things for the upcoming semester, but as I have an impossibly big TBR, I think I’ll have to delay that for the first days of September. Happy reading! ❤

    1. I hope you’re doing well with the NEWTs challenges. I’ve seen your updated on Inta and it seems like you’ve got it all under control 🙂
I only read 2 books so far, and none of them were on my NEWTs TBR… I’m sure I can fit them in some prompts, but for some reason I don’t feel like picking up any of my TBR books. It’s a disaster 😀

      1. Well, not everything xD I’m slightly behind schedule, but I think I’m worrying too much to be honest …
If the marathon is not working for you, might as well read other things – no point stressing (I say, while stressed) We’re a mess haha
