Ten Authors I’d like to read more of | Top Ten Tuesday

If you’d have asked me 2-3 years ago who was my absolute favorite author I’d buy any books from, I’d say Cassandra Clare or Sarah J. Maas. However, my reading tastes changed a lot during the last two years and in 2019, both of these authors were featured in my post: “Authors I’m Giving Up On”.

With this week’s TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) topic – Auto-Buy Authors, it’s time to revisit some older favorite authors and highlight some new ones!  But because there are not a lot of authors on my, so called, “auto-buy list”, I’d like to talk about Top 10 Authors I’d like to read more of!

Authors I discovered this year| And other honorable mentions!

This year has been amazing so far in terms of new genres, new releases and new-to-me authors. There were quite a lot of them that I would like to read more from, considering that their books made it to my 2017 favourites list that I will be sharing with all of you closer to the end of this year.

Surprisingly, almost all of them write General Fiction novels and it’s not a genre I pick up often, but when I do, it usually turns out to be a great experience. Maybe I should dedicate more of my reading time to Adult Fiction? Growing up is a very complicated process, especially when your reading tastes grows with you.

March Wrap Up

For me, March was not the best reading month, was always busy at work and at uni and it was hard to squeeze some time for reading in between. But I figured out that I tend to read way more when I have an e-book either on my tablet or on my phone (usually on my phone), as I travel a lot during the week it is easier to pull out your phone and keep reading, sometimes even in classes (don’t tell anyone please!).

I’ve read a total of 7 books and I DNF’d one..

1. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
2. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
3. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
4. Stardust by Neil Gaiman (and even watched a movie)
5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
6. Kill School: Slice by Karen Carr
7. Runes by Ednah Walters

Haruki Murakami just wasn’t for me. His short stories told me nothing and it was too boring to continue reading. I am not completely giving up on his writing but I might wait until a more appropriate set of mind before giving him another  chance.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and Kill School by Karen Carr were by far my most favorite books this month. Karen Carr is already working on a sequel and I cannot wait for the next book!

Review: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Oh, Amazing Amy!

This book was an amazing read. The mystery, the drama and most importantly the CHARACTERS. I bow before Gillian Flynn for being able to create something so deep, at some points even disturbing; to be able to switch between characters, between personalities and yet the book felt complete and harmonized.

I absolutely loved LOVED it!

I know it was a late read for me considering that the book was Goodreads Choice Awards winner in 2012, most people have already seen the movie and all the buzz around it has been slowly dying. But anyone who hasn’t had the time or will to pick it up and read it should definitely do it!

Mystery and crime are my favorites genres by far and I have read so many books in this genre, however Gone Girl surprised me on every single page, it was unique and throughout the whole book I’ve never gotten a “I’ve read it before” feeling.
