Beach Read by Emily Henry | Witty, entertaining and absolutely swoon-worthy! ❤

Why don’t I read rom-coms more often?

I’m so happy that I decided to listen to many glowing reviews of «Beach Read» and request it on NetGalley! Guys, if you haven’t read this book yet, make sure to pick it up this summer. It’s such a fast-paced and funny book, that will make you feel the whole spectrum of emotions.

For a while now I have been avoiding romances and women’s fiction only because a couple of last books in these genres I read last year were nothing special, and after finishing them I always wished I’d spent my time reading something else instead. But «Beach Read» by Emily Henry is a must-read book for every book lover out there, even if romance is not your favorite genre.

In an Instant by Suzanne Redfearn | I haven’t cried that much in a long time

I love it when the ARCs I choose end up on my favorites of the year list. It doesn’t matter how many of them might not be the best, and how many I might DNF during the year, because there are always a couple that will stand out in the best way possible.

After reading «In an Instant», I will read anything Suzanne Redfearn publishes in the future. Atmospheric and utterly heartbreaking, the story of the Millers family made me cry multiple times, the tears of sadness and joy.

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys | A masterpiece of historical fiction!

Historical Fiction was never a genre I considered to be my favorite. I dipped my toes into it, tried some of the most popular books, like The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Fall of Giants by Ken Follet and All the Lights We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. And while I was impressed by these works, I never truly experienced a full immersion in this literary genre.

Everything changed with just one Ruta Sepetys book, who masterfully introduced the heartbreaking story of love, fear, and truth into the most severe times in Spanish history.

Three Ways to Disappear by Katy Yocom | The most stunning debut of 2019!

This ARC has been on my Kindle for a couple of months already. After requesting it on a whim, based on the most gorgeous cover and interesting blurb, I was a little wary to actually read it. I couldn’t be more wrong!

In this brilliant debut novel, Katy Yocom brings us closer to the fatal reality of the extinction of Bengal tigers, layering her novel with intricate family relationships, and emotionally-gripping journey of two sisters, Sarah and Quinn.

«Three Ways to Disappear» is by far one of the best Literary Fiction books of this year! With such a powerful first novel, Katy Yocom instantly became my new favorite author, and I can’t wait to see what else she will come up with in the future.

This year has started very strong. I already added two books to my Favourites 2018 shelf on GoodReads and hope that more and more books will continue to surprise me!

The first installment – «The Bear and the Nightingale» with gorgeous cover (both US and UK editions) was hands down one of the best books I read in 2017. I’ll even dare to say that it might be one of the best books I’ve ever read! So if you have not heard about it, or haven’t picked it up yet (for whatever reason) check my review here to find out all the good things about Katherine Arden’s writing. Pax by Sara Pennypacker | An emotional story about the boy and his fox that broke my heart!

I’ve been eyeing this book for a very long time, especially because of this gorgeous cover, but also because one of the main “characters” of the book was a FOX! And animals in books or movies are my utter weakness.

This book was my cover-pick for one of the Booktube-a-Thon 2017 challenges and I devoured it in one day, crying and sobbing throughout the whole narrative. Continue reading “Pax by Sara Pennypacker | An emotional story about the boy and his fox that broke my heart!”

Authors I discovered this year| And other honorable mentions!

This year has been amazing so far in terms of new genres, new releases and new-to-me authors. There were quite a lot of them that I would like to read more from, considering that their books made it to my 2017 favourites list that I will be sharing with all of you closer to the end of this year.

Surprisingly, almost all of them write General Fiction novels and it’s not a genre I pick up often, but when I do, it usually turns out to be a great experience. Maybe I should dedicate more of my reading time to Adult Fiction? Growing up is a very complicated process, especially when your reading tastes grows with you. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff | Immersive and unconventionally written Sci-fi you MUST read!

Never have I ever… read a sci-fi book THAT good!
Never have I ever… heard about anything similar!
Never have I ever… seen such an unconventional story-telling!

The list can go on! If you read «Illuminae» before, why don’t you join the game in the comments down below?

I knew I would love this novel, however I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did and I was slightly worried about the way the story is told, a little bit apprehensive that I won’t be able to connect with the characters. But fear not! It was truly a unique reading experience that I intend to repeat as soon as possible – «Gemina» will be just as great! Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare | A gripping monster of a book

Let me tell you one thing – I read this book in one day! (I know I might be crazy, but I couldn’t stop reading… I just couldn’t, okay?)

It all started on an early Saturday morning (more precisely at 7 am, because I am a weirdo and even during the weekends I wake up super early), when I decided to have a relaxing day, i.e. do nothing else but reading. Continue reading “Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare | A gripping monster of a book”
