A reflection post | Did I actually incorporate these reading habits?

Exactly one year ago, I made a post about bookish habits I wanted to add to my routine. Itโ€™s about time for me to take a look back on the past 12 months and see if I actually incorporated these habits. Or maybe see if I tried them and they didnโ€™t work for me. Basically, another reflection post I tend to love writing ๐Ÿ˜€ย

At the time of creating these habits, my goal was to be more organized when it comes to reading. I love the idea of having dedicated time and mind-space for reading, but we all know that itโ€™s not always possible.

The Reasons why I don’t Re-Read books anymore!

Every time I see someone re-reading their favorite books, I get transported to my teens when all I did was re-read books over and over again. To the point that I knew them all by heart. The most notable re-reads back then were (1) the Harry Potter series, (2) The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, (3) childrenโ€™s detective novels and (4) some witty and funny adult crime fiction.

I wanted to justify my re-reading phase with the fact that I didnโ€™t have that many unread books on my shelves, but thatโ€™s not entirely true. My grandfather spent most of his life collecting books, which was very difficult to do in the URSS. Most of the available books were propaganda, and foreign authors were forbidden for many years. There even was an โ€œundergroundโ€ book trade business.

New Favorite Authors of 2019 | Ft. Books Iโ€™m planning to read in 2020!

When I just started this blog, I didnโ€™t even know that it was possible to read books from so many different authors. My reading mentality back then only allowed me to buy and read books from my favorite authors, or re-read all the books I already owned.

I remember how much I loved going to book shops when I was a teenager, browsing through all the new releases, reading the blurb on the back, and then putting the books down just to go and choose something from the author I was already familiar with.

Book Blogging Firsts Tag | Taking a trip down memory lane!

In 2020 my blog will turn 5 years old (time flies when youโ€™re having fun, right?), and I thought it would be very appropriate to start this year with Book Blogging Firsts Tag. I wasnโ€™t actually tagged by anyone, and I know I still have tags I havenโ€™t done from 2017 (Iโ€™m so sorry!!!), but we wonโ€™t talk about that and instead focus on these interesting prompts!

Beth @ Reading every Night did this tag last year and inspired me to do the same. Thank you, Beth! โค

2019 Reading Stats | ft. Pie Charts & Graphs!

December is one of my favorite months, and not only because of the holiday season, Christmas shopping, and delicious food. Itโ€™s also the time to take a look back, see what goals I managed to achieve (or not) and compile multiple charts and graphs to help me analyze my performance.

Who doesnโ€™t love stats?!

2019 was an incredible year! Itโ€™s been one of the most stressful ones because of the number of things I had to juggle. But at the same time, Iโ€™m more productive when I have more things on my plate. I would love to reduce the amount of stress in 2020, of course, but I wouldnโ€™t necessarily reduce my workload.ย

The NetGalley Book Tag | How do I choose books on NetGalley?

NetGalley is one of the main sources of new releases for me. I love the ever-growing community, the opportunity to read new and amazing books, that I’d probably wouldn’t have. It’s always more difficult for the international readers to get physical ARCs of books (and just ARCs in general), so I’m very thankful that NetGalley exists!

Thank you, Melanie @TBRandBeyond for tagging me! Melanie and Mireille run TBR and Beyond together. Their Top Ten Tuesday posts are always so much fun to read, make sure to check out their blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Good Reading Habits | Book Tag

Oh, this was not easy! I thought I was decent when it came to reading books, especially since I’ve been doing that since I was little. I thought, I might have developed some good habits along the way!

I was wrong.

It literally took me over 2 hours to come up with FOUR good reading habits. So that’s what we are going with today.

Thank you, Meghan for tagging me! This post really helped me realized that I need to develop some more reading habits. ๐Ÿ˜€

This is actually my first time doing The Liebster Award (the trend of 2019 being the year of โ€œfirst(s)โ€ continues). I love reading Tags, I think they are a great tool to get to know each other better, but for some reason I never do them. It’s about time to join in on the fun!

Thank you, Jenna @Bookmark Your Thoughts for the nomination! I’ve been following closely Jenna’s blog, and just having a blast reading her posts. (especially the book reviews! I think I’m in love with the way she structures her posts!)
