The Reasons why I don’t Re-Read books anymore!

Every time I see someone re-reading their favorite books, I get transported to my teens when all I did was re-read books over and over again. To the point that I knew them all by heart. The most notable re-reads back then were (1) the Harry Potter series, (2) The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, (3) children’s detective novels and (4) some witty and funny adult crime fiction.

I wanted to justify my re-reading phase with the fact that I didn’t have that many unread books on my shelves, but that’s not entirely true. My grandfather spent most of his life collecting books, which was very difficult to do in the URSS. Most of the available books were propaganda, and foreign authors were forbidden for many years. There even was an “underground” book trade business.

New Favorite Authors of 2019 | Ft. Books I’m planning to read in 2020!

When I just started this blog, I didn’t even know that it was possible to read books from so many different authors. My reading mentality back then only allowed me to buy and read books from my favorite authors, or re-read all the books I already owned.

I remember how much I loved going to book shops when I was a teenager, browsing through all the new releases, reading the blurb on the back, and then putting the books down just to go and choose something from the author I was already familiar with.

Books I Hope to Find Under the Christmas Tree | ft. 2019 Releases I don’t own yet

This Top Ten Tuesday topic should have been one of the first ones in December, so I could sneakily show my boyfriend this list and would maybe get some of these books for Christmas! It’s Christmas Eve and now all is left to do is try to post this as early as possible to give him time to run to the bookstore that should still be open in the morning.

My Long Christmas Break “To Do” List | Getting ready for the new year!

Alright, guys! This week’s TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) topic is very similar to the Holiday Reads Recommendations, and I also posted my December Goals earlier this month where I mentioned all of the books I need (and want) to finish before the end of the year. So, of course, I will be focusing on those during my Christmas Break!

Since I didn’t want to repeat myself, and mention re-reading Harry Potter for the 10th time in one week, but I’d still love to participate in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, I decided to share with you top 8 of my organizational task I’m planning to do during the holiday break! (I know! Super exciting!)

Goodreads Choice Awards 2019 | What books will I add to my TBR?

How many Goodreads Choice Award nominees have you read?

This year I read only a couple of books from some of the categories, and decided not to vote (except on «The Fountains of Silence» by Ruta Sepetys). The winners were somewhat predictable, as everyone knows Goodreads Award is more of a popularity contest than anything else.

Holiday Reads Recommendations!

I’m starting this Holiday series with Top Ten Tuesday meme and some book recommendations for the most wonderful time of the year. This post contains a bunch of my all time favorite books. I tried to include different categories for different readers so that no-one would feel left out during the magical Christmas time!

10 Short Books to help you complete the Goodreads Challenge!

December will be the busiest month of the year for most of the bloggers, YouTubers, and people in general. For us, it means the beginning of the Christmas season, but also the final stretch of the year to try and reach all of those reading goals we set up for ourselves almost 12 months ago. There will be a lot of new holiday content, best and worst of the year wrap-ups, and not much time left for reading.

I reached my GoodReads goal in July this year, which was the first time ever that I managed to read 50 books in 6 months! The second half of the year wasn’t as productive in terms of reading, and as much as I’d love to reach 100 books, I don’t think it will be possible.

How my Reading Tastes have changed over the years!

I’ve been meaning to share this with you for the longest time, but always shied at the thought of how long it would take me to create the infographic that I’d love, and which would translate well my reading journey.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is all about Changes in our reading life, from genres to habits, this meme was perfect for me to finally sit down and prepare the one blog post that has been on my To-Do list forever.

10 Books that scream “autumn” | My obsession with yellow color continues!

Yellow is one of my favorite colors. I love every shade, from almost browns to pale pastel yellows. And that is the main color I associate with Autumn season. The yellow is everywhere – in the leaves, the pumpkins, and even the clothes (in my favorite mustard yellow ❤ )!

All Audiobooks I listened to this year!

I’m joining the Top 5 Tuesday meme today, created by Shanah from BionicBookwormBlog. It’s been a while since I posted any TTT posts, mainly because the topics of the past weeks (months) weren’t my cup of tea. I’ve been seeing many To 5 Tuesday posts out there and thought it would be fun to finally join this meme as well!

This week we are supposed to give you our top 5 audiobooks. But since I’ve only listened to SEVEN audiobooks this year, I might as well talk about all of them!

Science Fiction and Dystopian Books with numbers in the titles | Another Fall TBR!

I love TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) topics that I can put my own twist to. This week we are supposed to talk about Books with numbers in the titles, and I had a hard time deciding WHAT books exactly I wanted to talk about. There are just too many possibilities!

After starting to compile my lists for Books I read that had numbers in the titles and All Agatha Christie books with numbers in the titles. I decided to settle on a list of Dystopian and Sci-Fi books, creating another fall TBR! (this Autumn will be known as TBR Autumn).

Just a few days ago I started reading a dystopian novel «Cell»* by Stephen King that reminded me why I used to love science fiction and apocalyptic books so much!

*This book is GREAT, btw! I’m more than half way through and have a trouble putting it down.

Books I’m planning to read this Autumn | An attempt to actually read books from my TBR pile!

TBRs are like New Year’s resolutions. They are made to be broken! So why not join the TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) meme this week and make one more list of books I’ll probably only read next summer or in many years from now.*

*I hope you don’t think that I intentionally don’t follow my TBR! I have all the desire and determination to read these books ASAP. But you know… TBRs…¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This week’s TTT topic is Books on my Fall 2019 TBR, which is a perfect way to begin the Autumn season! Happy 2nd day of Autumn, everyone! The weather is finally changing. We had some much needed rain last weekend. The evenings are finally chilly, and I lit up my first candles of the season. There are three genres I usually gravitate towards during colder months: (1) Fantasy, (2) Thrillers and (3) Historical Fiction.

Book Series I’m afraid to commit to | Ft. Book series & Books on my TBR I’m avoiding reading

As I sat down this Saturday to prepare my posts for the upcoming week, I instantly realized how perfect this week’s TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) topic is – Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why (maybe you’re scared of it, worried it won’t live up to the hype, etc.)

I’ve recently started a blog series about book series (this is my favorite phrase! 😀 ) with the first one being Book series I need to finish, focusing primarily on the unfinished trilogies that I have quite a lot of.

P.S. I still haven’t read any of the last books in the trilogies mentioned in that post. I will! I promise I will! It just takes me a while to actually get to them.

I thought I’d take this opportunity to combine book series with the TTT topic and talk about Book Series I’m afraid to commit to

ARCs I’ve read that made me want to purchase the final copy of the book!

This week’s TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) theme is Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library. Since I don’t use the local library, I’ll be talking about my e-books, specifically e-galleys, that I’d love to have a physical copy of.

Receiving ARCs (Advanced Reader’s Copy) from NetGalley or Publishers always makes me feel so happy and grateful for the chance to read the book before its publication date, to share my thoughts with all of you and just keep the book conversation going. But there are definitely those stories that I instantly fall in love with and desire more than anything to purchase the final copy of the book to display it on my bookshelves!

6 Bookish Habits I wish to add to my routine!

The preparation to various read-a-thons – the Reading Rush that takes place this week, and NEWTs Magical read-a-thon during the month of August, made me realize that I needed to set specific time for my reading.

And it’s not that I don’t read, but I fall victim to some bad bookish habits:

  • Instead of picking up a book whenever I have time for it, I wait for that “perfect” moment of relaxation to read, picturing myself seated in a quite room with some candles lit up. And as you probably know, that doesn’t happen every day, or even every week.
  • I refuse to start reading a new book if I haven’t reviewed the previous one. And since I usually don’t reaview my books immediately after finishing them, this denial to read can last for days and sometimes even weeks.
  • Because I usually don’t read during the working week, I put too much pressure on myself to read AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE on the weekend, and avoid making any other plans.
