September 2020 Wrap Up | The month I gave up on reading…

Oh, wow!  What a month… 🤷‍♀️ First of all, I hope all of you are doing well! For the past couple of weeks, I didn’t really blog hop as much as I usually do, and it made me feel very disconnected from everyone. I hope to fix that before this post goes live!

Secondly, WHAT A MONTH! I knew going in September that it was going to be (1) a slow reading month and (2) an exhausting and nerve-racking one as well. And it was both of these things, but on a much larger scale than expected!

Something got to me this month, not sure if it was the change of seasons or the fact that the end of the year is approaching too quickly, but it’s been a very melancholic month for me. I’ve been loving the few rainy days that we’ve got! They were super cozy and I can’t wait for a proper autumn to begin. 🍁🍂

WHAT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER

1 – House hunting.

September began with house-hunting. We’ve been trying to find a new place to buy for quite a while now and in August we saw this (was seemed like great at the time) opportunity of buying a house not too far from where we live and work now. We had a visit scheduled for the 1st of September and it was quite a disappointment. The photos can be very deceiving! So the hunt continues…

Honestly, I’m not going to stress myself out with this right now. Keep my eyes open and hopefully, something we like (and can afford) will pop up soon. In any case, who knows how the estate market will change in the next 6-8 months, as the country is slowly preparing for another wave of quarantine.

2 – Keep on studying.

There was a lot of studying happening in September. Studying before work, studying during lunch breaks, studying after work, on the weekends, etc. etc. The fun thing is that I don’t even know if I will be able to seat my exams still this year 🤷‍♀️ I’m kinda studying “just in case”!

3 – Not reading.

Yeah… Let’s talk about that. I finished 2 books this month and currently in the middle of another 3. And to be honest, I’m kinda okay with it. I know it’s a big difference from what I usually read (*cough* 18 books in July *cough*), but I knew going into September that I would be cutting my reading time. Basically, all the time I used to dedicate to reading I spent either working or studying (or sometimes not doing anything productive at all…)

4 – Listening to the best cover ever

I keep gushing about Little Mix in my wrap up posts, but OMG! They covered Harry Styles’ “Falling” and it was absolutely beautiful. Everyone needs to listen to it! I’m pretty sure I watched this video over 20 times at this point. Lol

MONTHLY READING STATS
Total Books: 2 read, 3 currently reading
Total Pages: 736
ARCs: 2

I’m not even going to mention my September reading goals. All of the fantasy series I was planning to continue / finish didn’t happen. Most important is that I read the ARCs that were due. I’m happy about that! 🤣

  1. September was pretty good for me, but this post is so reminiscent of my August. This year has been exhausting and that can take a toll on even the things we love doing. I hope the next month is better for you. It’s great to see that you are still managing to be productive, despite the reading.

  2. It sounds like you had such a stressful month with the house hunting and uncertainty about your exams! Don’t feel bad for not reading or not being as active, we all have some difficult months sometimes and it’s best to just enjoy what you can and relax when you can! I hope October is a million times better 💗

    1. Thank you ❤ I've made a decision to ask for extra 6 months on my internship because I'm still lacking two court cases and I there is no way I can get them before the end of this month. So I think it was the best decision, which also allows me to relieve some of the stress, and considering that I've already been studying non-stop, I know exactly what areas to focus on.
Now I just need to start reading again! 😀

  3. Oof, September does sound like it has been a stressful month for you! But like you said, it’s okay that you didn’t read much. There are good months and bad months, but I hope that October will be a less stressful and more book-filled month for you! At least you’re enjoying the books you’ve got going (I can’t wait to read Addie LaRue)! Have a great month ahead, Alex 😍

    1. September is over and I’m leaving all of the stress with it as well! 😀 October will be so much better! I’m still not sure how much I will be able to read, because all I want to do is play video games, but will see I guess. Ahaha
Thank you, hun ❤ I hope October will be a good one for you as well!

  5. Good luck with the house hunt! I will be leaving my condo sooner than I expected with work from home. It was the perfect little spot … now I feel claustrophobic.

I haven’t finished a book in 1.5 months … it’s been bad. And what’s sad is I’m halfway through like 5 books atm … UGH!

LITTLE MIX! I really need to listen to them again. I’m glad to hear you are doing well. It’s been too long! ❤

    1. Thank you, honey! So good to see you here! ❤
I can imagine! Being stuck inside for so long really puts things into perspective. Will you be looking for a bigger apartment or a house in the future?
Arrgh, reading slumps are the worst! I hope you'll dedicate some time to one of the books, I think finishing at least one will feel incredible and boost your motivation to hopefully read more 🙂

      1. I’m hoping so. The problem is that I’ve only owned this place for 2 years so it’s usually not best to sell. But the selling market has been great lately so maybe mid next year? I just can’t stay in this place as long as I thought I was originally going to, as much as I love it.

I finally finished one! And it was really good so I’m pretty happy about it 🥰 I’m aiming for two more books this month. Slow and easy steps back into reading haha

  6. Even if you didn’t read a lot, it sounds like you had a very busy month!
Oh man, house hunting seems like such a challenge, especially in the times we’re living in. I wish you luck on finding your perfect home! Hopefully you’ll find it soon! 😊
    Have a happy October! ❤️

      1. You’re welcome! 😊
Honestly, if you’re going to be living there I think you need to like every aspect of it and be 100% with it because otherwise you’re stuck with it. All that to say, I don’t think you’re being picky! 😅

  7. Good luck with house hunting! Sometimes it can be stressful and yeah, pictures can be deceiving. I hope you find something you love. 🙂

I didn’t really read much this month either. I posted my wrap up today. I listened to audiobooks instead of actually reading books myself. It would have been the only way I would get anything read this month, honestly. If not, I would have read zero books!

I hope October is a better reading month for the both of us. ❤

    1. Thank you!! I’m very excited to finally get our own place, it’s going to be so great! but the process is exhausting! lol I’m sure we will get there eventually. Ahah
Yeah… reading in September was not happening. And I’m kinda okay with that. I did a bunch of other things instead, and now I kinda want to play video games instead of reading 😀 I hope to at least read some more ARCs in October.
Here’s to an amazing month! 🙌🍁

  8. I agree with you; September was a very weird month for me, too. I hope October will be better, haha. I didn’t read much in September, it really just was finishing Crooked Kingdom and having a book hangover so far. 🖤 I have yet to recover, though…

    1. So many people I spoke with also didn’t have a great month! I was just commenting with my colleague at work how both of us were just tired and deflated for the entire month. That’s so weird! 😀
I hope October will be a great month for all of us ❤ And maaaan, book hangovers are a real problem! On one hand, they are great cause it means that you just finished an incredible book, but on the other hand.. how can we continue reading?? 😀

  9. Good luck with the house hunting, honey! ❤️ And don’t worry if you don’t like to read too much, some months are busier or stressful than others and the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and take it easy. LOVE YOU & I hope you’re having a beautiful October ✨✨✨🎃🕯️🥰

  10. Yeah, September was kind of a stressful mess for me, too. I did manage to read, but that’s about all I did. Ha! I didn’t do much blog hopping either. I think the important thing is to not be too hard on ourselves right now, right? I hope October is better for both of us.<3
