How I Read Book Tag | Revealing my reading secrets!

Look at me doing another book tag! I love seeing how other people read, I think it’s the most fascinating thing, together with organization and daily routines. 😀 Thank you, Rafaela for tagging me! Make sure to check her blog if you don’t follow her already!

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Not really. I always prefer to read on my bed. I can sit, I can lay down, I can semi-lay / semi-sit. It’s the most comfortable place to read.

2. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I can stop reading whenever, but I prefer to read until the end of the chapter and then put the book down.

3. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmark, always bookmark. I usually pick one bookmark when I start a new book and it lives there. Very rarely I’d need a random piece of paper to use as a bookmark.

4. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

Neither? I prefer when it’s quite. But I don’t mind TV. Music, on the other hand, is a total no-no.

5. Do you eat or drink while reading?

All. The. Time! Lol I always need to either have a cup of tea or coffee, or something to snack on. If my metabolism wouldn’t be as good as it is, I would definitely need to make some adjustments to this habit.

6. Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere. I love reading outside, at the beach, at the park. Anywhere with sunshine. But I also read a lot at my bf’s place or cafes. Basically everywhere.

7. One book at a time or several at once?

Several at once. I usually have 2-3 books on the go. I like to have several options for my reading time.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Uh, silently ofc. :O Reading out loud would be too slow, as I often don’t read full words just see the first couple of letters and jump to the next one.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I’m guilty of skimming or sometimes even skipping pages of the books I’m not enjoying. I skipped many pages in «The Curse so Dark and Lonely» and don’t regret it.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it like new. As a result, I often barely open my mass-market paperbacks when I read them. Lol

11. Do you write in your books?

No, but not because I want to keep them in pristine condition. It’s more because finding a pen or even stop reading to write something down will pull me out of the story. What I usually do when reading physical books is put small squares of paper every 50 pages or so, at the end of chapters. So when I get to that point, I need to stop reading and write down my thoughts and it helps tremendously with reviews later on.

12. Who do you tag?

Jen | Sofi | Jordan | Emer | Zezee

This was a lot of fun! I didn’t want to tag a lot of people, but if you would like to participate you’re Tagged! 😀 Also, if you don’t feel like making a separate post for this, you can always share your answers in the comments below.

  1. LOVE THIS!! ❤️ let me tell you that I love, love, love your photographs, each one is more beautiful than the last one 😍 & thank you SO much for tagging me! I love the idea, so I’m definitely going to be doing it.✨
The bed is always the best place to read, I like to read on the couch too, but bed is perfect! 😊👏🏻

  2. I loved reading about your reading habits!! It’s interesting that you find music more distracting than tv – for me, it’s the opposite. I think because the music I can cancel out and only kind of hear it, but actual dialogue on tv is bound to pull me out. (Not always, though.) That said, I usually choose quiet, though, but when I’m commuting I’d rather listen to some music than to the people around me, haha. Great post! 🙂

    1. I definitely prefer when it’s quiet as well 😀 And I also notice that some days I can read with any distractions around me, and other days it’s very difficult to focus. Or maybe it depends on the book? When listening to music, do you listen to songs with or without lyrics? I feel like songs will lyrics are VERY distracting. 😀

  3. My answers would be the same as yours, except I can read while the TV is on and while listening to music. I actually love to make playlists for many of my longer books or series to listen to while I read. Great post! 🙂

    1. Thank you! 🙂 Oh, that’s interesting! But does it matter to you if songs have lyrics or not? I think I might be able to listen to the music as long as there are no lyrics, otherwise, I’ll sing or humm along. Lol

      1. Nope, it doesn’t matter. I can listen to lyrics while I read. Maybe it stems from being a mom?? The only time I could have complete quiet to read would be at night. Not that I don’t do that, too. I’m a night owl. 😃 I must have a weird brain. Sometimes I can hum and sing along while I keep reading. 😂

  4. I just don’t understand how someone can read and not break the book’s spine!!! Am I just utterly awkward and entirely useless …..you don’t have to answer, I know it’s a resounding yes lol XDDDDDDDDDDD Thanks for the tag Alex <3333

  5. Ah yes 😀 you did it! I really like your answer about putting small paper squares to make you stop reading and write down your thoughts. I feel like ever since I started making reading notes I remember the books better after I read them but I still struggle a lot with certain reviews 😅

    1. I’d love to say that the paper thing was my idea, but it wasn’t 😀 I saw it in one of the youtube videos and instantly adopted, ahah. Yeah! That’s true, whenever I keep record of my thoughts when I read a book, I seem to remember it much better, and also remember the overall reading experience. And reviews are ALWAYS a struggle 😀 I always think that maybe after 20 years of blogging they will finally come out naturally. All I have is hope… Lol

  6. Please teach me how to not break spines because it’s literally impossible?! Haha I of course love a pristine spine but no matter how I try to not break it… It breaks 🤣 Great post! Also, gah, I really love your photos 😍 You’re so talented!

    1. Thank you so much, hun ❤ don't make me cry! lol
I mean… you can break them a tiny little bit, noone will notice. Otherwise, just as I told Emer, barely open the book and try guessing the letters / words that are too deep inside to be able to read 😀

  7. I only snack while reading if I’m using my Kindle, although one time I dropped a crumb on it & the screen was so sensitive that it turned through about 50 pages before I realised what had happened 😂I’m actually the opposite with skipping pages – I tend to do it when the plot is really angsty & I NEED to know what happens but I have to go to bed early, or my lunch break is ending 😂 I always go back & re-read the pages I skipped/skim read properly, though 😛

  8. This was great to read!! 😀 I can also read anywhere and the noise usually doesn’t bother me, but music definitely distracts me. I can’t have snacks tho, I’ll likely make a mess, and my metabolism isn’t that good hahaha
