May 2020 Monthly Goals | I will never learn how to make small TBRs

May the force be with you! I hope you’re having a wonderful Star Wars day! It’s time for me to share my reading, blogging, and life goals with you for the month of May! And uuuuh, I’m so excited!

Do you remember me saying that this year I was going to read less than usual? Yeah… well, that’s not happening. I’ve been reading way more than usual, and I’m going with it for now. I think in May things will slowly get back to normal, which means crazy work hours, but I’m being hopeful that I can find some extra hours in my days to consume all of these books.

I’m currently in the middle of three books, which I hope to finish before this post goes live, so they won’t be included in my TBR list. I’m writing this post on Thursday, April 30th, and since we have a long weekend, I’m pretty sure I can finish and review all of them.

MAY MONTHLY GOALS:

1 – Read at least one book from the series I’ve already started.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this in any of my previous posts, but I’ve been trying to incorporate in my TBR, every single month, at least one book that is a conclusion to the series or the next installment in an ongoing one. This way I can finally make some progress in the ginormous list of series I’ve started but have yet to finish.
2 – Read at least one book from my physical TBR.
This year I’ve been reading so many e-books! I track all of my reading a separate excel sheet so I thought it would be fun to pull this graph and see the ration between physical, e-books and audiobooks I’ve read so far this year. I have no idea how this happened! Yes, I’ve been focusing a lot on ARCs, but I feel like I lost motivation to pick up books from my shelves.
3 – Read many ARCs!
Just when I thought that I got my ARCs under control, I received even more ARCs! Yay! 😀 I get too excited whenever I log on NetGalley and can’t seem to control myself, but I’m also so happy that I will get to read some of my most anticipated books earlier and share my thoughts with all of you.
4 – Join Read.Rate.Review Book Club.
I’ve been very into book clubs this year 😀 In February and March I joined the Literally Dead Book Club and read «The Other People» and «Platform Seven». The May pick is «Fragments of the Lost» by Megan Miranda, which I already read and reviewed a few years ago.

Read.Rate.Review will be reading «The City of Brass»! I’m so excited to jump into this series, Merlin definitely sold it to me.
5 – Finish all notes for exams.
This goal should probably be in the first place, but knowing myself I’ll most likely leave if for the last weeks of the month. I’ve been doing great progress in taking all the notes I need, however, I do need to speed up this process and complete everything before the end of May.
6 – Just stay on top of things.
It’s interesting how last month I needed to take things easier, so my goal was to relax, and this month I feel reinvigorated again to work, study, and do other million things on my To-Do list. But of course, I don’t want to overwhelm myself, so I feel like if I stay on top of everything I need to do, and don’t leave things “for tomorrow”, which I tend to do quite a lot, I’ll be fine.

Taking into consideration all of my reading goals, here is my TBR for May and I’m so excited to read all of these books!

I hope May will be an incredible month for all of you [as far as possible]! And that we all read amazing books and find new favorites. ❤

Have you read any of the books on my TBR? What book are you the most excited to read in May?

  1. This is a great post. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll be right on top of things. I’m really bad at sticking to a monthly tbr, I really envy you there. 😀
The first Scythe book is on my tbr. And at some point, I’m sure, I will even read it. 🙂

    1. Thank you! 🙂 So far I’m doing well and reading books from my TBR, but there is this one book that I really feel like reading now that wasn’t on my original TBR 😀
I hope you’ll love Scythe! It’s such an interesting concept.

    1. Thank you!! 🙂 For some reason I’ve been struggling with Americanah. I picked it up in January, JANUARY!!!, put it down once and haven’t felt like picking it back up since… But to make myself actually read it, I included it in one more TBR that is coming next week. Lol

  3. May the Fourth be with you! One of the best days of the year! Gosh … I wish I was reading more! I just got our of my reading slump mid April, so 4 books was the max for me. But I’m really feeling it this month!

I deliberately haven’t logged into NetGalley because I have too many books I currently own and I have NO self control lol!

That looks like a great May list! Good luck with your TBR 🙂

  4. I’m so happy you’re planning to read The City of Brass! It’s one of those books I always recommend and can’t stop talking about 😀 I might read it too but in June. As well as the sequel, The Kingdom of Copper, before the last in the trilogy is published.

  5. Oh, I like your number 1 goal! I need to try that, too. I’m currently reading the next book in the Outlander series that I needed to read, so I should just make it a habit from now on. 😉 I have the same problem with Netgalley. It’s a love/hate relationship. Ha! I hope you have a great reading month!

  6. “Just stay on top of things” is a total mood because yeah. Haha I’m digging your goals, Alex and I have no doubt that you will absolutely crush them all! Your TBR looks really good too — quite a few on here that I’m also looking forward to reading. Hope you enjoy the rest of the Scythe series 😀 Happy May reading!

      1. Thanks, lovely 💙 I am feeling much better now. A lot less stressed but I also found a more permanent solution which requires moving (again!) but it will be so worth it for my mental health lol

  7. Good luck with all your May goals! I know I am so late in responding to this post and the month is halfway over. I hope you have been enjoying your TBR. I really need to read The Toll as soon as possible! I’ve been waiting until I get out of this reading/blogging slump that I’ve been in, so I can really enjoy it.

    1. Thank you!!! Even halfway through the month, I need all the luck I can get 😀 It’s been going fairly well so far, until I requested a ton of ARCs on NetGalley a couple of days ago and many of them got approved (which is a great thing, but also… I have soooo many ARCs to read now D: ) lol
