10 Favorite Books I rarely talk about!

I love this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic so much! Today we are talking about all those books that we really loved but that don’t usually fit into book tags or that we just forget about. As I read more and more books every year, I tend to talk more about my current reads, about most recent favorites and also all those books I will definitely read one day. With that, all other amazing books that deserved 5-stars two or three (or more) years ago were swept to the side. 

This will be a great opportunity to scavenge through my GoodReads shelves and find the books I loved in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and bring them back to everyone’s attention. 

Let’s start with some Adult books I loved but haven’t talked about in a while:

5 FAVORITE ADULT BOOKS I RARELY TALK ABOUT:

«The One» is a Sci-Fi thriller set in the world where a program can find your match, the One, by analyzing DNA of people who submit their samples. With that comes a lot of struggles: people who’s been waiting for their One to be discovered and dreading the possibility of missing out on the perfect happy life because their other half wasn’t interested to submit the sample. Or people who took advantage of the program. It was an amazing thriller with so many surprising twists! 

If you like Blake Crouch and his type of Sci-Fi Thrillers, you’ll love John Marrs’ «The One» as well!

Another amazing book that I used to mention a lot 2 years ago – «The Leavers» by Lisa Ko. I love reading and learning about different cultures, and doing it by reading Fiction is the most entertaining thing in the world! 

In «The Leavers» we follow the son of a Chinese immigrant, from childhood into adulthood, and this type of character-driven books will always be my favorite.

Yet another 2017 favorite, «All the Good Things» is the most heartbreaking but at the same time feel-good novel! I even remember everything about me reading this book – how it was summer, how I sat on the terrace. That’s not something I experience with every book, and I will forever treasure this one.

I remember crying and laughing as I read «All the Good Things». It’s such an underrated book, I just wish I could make more people read it!

Oh, my very first Mary Kubica! I should make it a priority to read all of her books because I’m sure that all other books are just as incredibly atmospheric and intense. 

My review on Goodreads for this book says: “I’ll be writing my review as soon as I’m done crying”. Lol. I did actually write this review, it’s up on my blog. But apparently I forgot to update the Goodreads page, oops! 😀

«Homegoing» is a masterpiece of historical fiction and should be made mandatory reading in school! The story of multiple generations in mere 320 pages is not an easy task, by Yaa Gyasi did it masterfully. This is probably one of the few books that I consider re-reading some time in the future.

5 FAVORITE YA BOOKS I RARELY TALK ABOUT:

«Pax» was one of the books I picked for the Booktube-a-thon (back then when it was called Booktube-a-thon and not Reading Rush). There was a prompt to read a book in one day or in one sitting, and I read this one.

I saw that Sarah Pennypacker’s new book came out just a few weeks ago, I will be reading it for sure, as soon as it appears on the website I usually order books from.

I feel like even when this book came out no one really talked about it, so it was passed unnoticed. LGBTQ+, feminism, a little bit of historical fiction, this book had it all to become one of the popular YA releases. So if you’re looking for an inspirational book that talks about feminism and women’s rights, this is a book for you!

Give me all books about video games! As a “former” gamer I find these books fascinating and so very relatable. «Ready Player One» was probably my first book about gaming and I loved it so much. I loved the book, I loved the movie. We watched the movie at the cinema first and liked it so much that we had to rewatch it at home. Twice! 😀

«To Best the Boys» might not be the best YA fantasy out there. However, since I read it in one sitting, not able to put the book down even for a second I consider it to be on my favorites list!
