April 2020 Monthly Goals | Excited to read all books for O.W.L.s Magical Readathon!

Hello, fellow booklovers! I hope all of you are doing great and are ready to dive right into O.W.L.s Magical Readathon in April!

O.W.L.s and Booktube-a-thon are my favorite read-a-thons out there and I always make time for them. This year I wasn’t sure about OWLs as I had a deadline for the deliverance of reports at the end of April, but with COVID, social isolation and Courts not working full time, the deadline and my exams are pushed for the end of this year (maybe?). We don’t know quite yet what will happen, there have been a few decisions here and there from the Lawyers’ Bar but nothing concrete just yet. This definitely gives me more time to read and blog, and also gives me more time to study. I can now include some books I was planning to read for the internship but didn’t think I would have time for them.

At the office, things also slowed down a bit. I was finally able to check things off my to-do list that has been there for months! And I will take this time to learn more new useful things and just clear my head a bit, as the amount of workload was starting to wear me out.

My April plans are ambitious, I realize that. But at the moment I need to challenge myself so that’s exactly what I will be doing this month!

APRIL MONTHLY GOALS:

1 – Participate in O.W.L.s Magical Readathon!

It took me an hour or so to assemble my OWLs TBR (it was not an easy task!) I still don’t know what career I want to pursue this year. Based on my analysis of OWLs careers, I was going to pick the one that required the least number of books. However, I have more free time now and can push myself to read more!

Instead of choosing a career, I assigned one book to each prompt (12 in total) and will try to read them all basically. I will prioritize subjects that interest me the most – Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, History of Magic, etc. And some subjects will be read only if I have time left for them at the end of the month – Care of Magical Creatures, Astronomy, Divination, etc.

And in the end, I’ll see what careers will be available to me for NEWTs! (basically, like a usual teenager who can’t decide who they want to be 😀 ).

2 – Write those reviews!

I’ve only written a couple of reviews in the beginning of March. Since I just read a bunch of books, I really need to sit down and review them all. Even if some reviews won’t make it to my blog, at least they will be published on GoodReads. 🙂

3 – Read ARCs and maybe request some more?

The majority of my ARCs are for April and May, with one or two for June and August. My goal is to catch up and read the ones that will be published this month, and then I can finally request some more ARCs of the books that are coming out later this year! Hooray!

4 – Keep listening to audiobooks!

I registered on Scribd on the 19th of March and already listened to 5 books. All I need to do now is to constantly have one audiobook on the go and enjoy my 30 days free trial.

5 – Clean and declutter!

We are spending tons of time at home now. I can’t say that I have more free time now, as I still work at least 8 hours per day (sometimes more), have books to read and review, and blog posts to right, and also continue studying for the exams. In general, social isolation didn’t really add more time to my days. But Spring is finally here and even though we aren’t allowed to go outside, I love that the days are finally longer.

I have already started deep cleaning my kitchen and will be moving to the living room soon. And the best thing is that I can clean AND listen to audiobooks! 👍

There are more things I want to accomplish in April, but this list is getting rather long already.

  1. DAMNNNN, I love an ambitious readathon TBR! Good luck – you’ve got some amazing reads picked there, so I feel like you’ll have a good time regardless 😀 Also how fast are you listening to those audiobooks?! I’ve been subscribed to Scribd for half a year now & I think the most I’ve ever listened to in a month is 3 😂

Hope you have a fantastic April & fingers crossed we’ll all make it out of this self-isolation safe and sound very soon!

    1. Ahaha, I love an ambitious TBR, the question is: “Do I love reading my ambitious TBRs?!” 😀 So far it’s been going well, I threw some shorter books in the mix and they make me feel very productive. It’s like, Uh! I just finished a book in two hours! Let’s do this again! 😀

I usually start at 1.5 and then move to 1.8 speed after the first 20%ish. 1.5 usually feels very comfortable. Yea, but you are subsribed so you must think that you have all the time in the world to listen to them. I on the other hand have the DEADLINE! Ahaha

  2. I’m not participating in the OWL’s, but I do think it’s one of the most fun readathons out there! Your TBR also seems like a lot of great books, hope you’ll enjoy all of them! Hope you’ll have a great April and stay safe and healthy!

    1. Thank you! 🙂 I hope everything is well with you and your family, and you’re staying safe! I’ve had so much fun with all the twitter sprints and 24h read-a-thons this month. Very glad that my reading slump was over just in time for the OWLs.

  3. Good luck trying to figure out what career your going to choose! I wish you luck reading all those books!
I wish you luck on decluttering too… I always think it’s going to be great and fun… it always turns out to be such a tiresome process and I question why I ever started ha! 😂

      1. I’m trying to get my reading groove back, but I’m always happy to hear others are reading lots because it makes me want to read! 😀
Haha, right?! More time than what you had expected, and if you’re like me, you find old things that bring back memories and you find yourself down a rabbit hole… and you forget that you were supposed to be cleaning 😅

  4. Good luck with all your April goals! Looks like you have an awesome TBR for the month with the readathon. Heartstopper and The Test were so great. I need to read ARCs too. I’m so behind with them because of recent events and my mental health just not being there right now. I would love to clean and declutter too.
