My Long Christmas Break “To Do” List | Getting ready for the new year!

Alright, guys! This week’s TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) topic is very similar to the Holiday Reads Recommendations, and I also posted my December Goals earlier this month where I mentioned all of the books I need (and want) to finish before the end of the year. So, of course, I will be focusing on those during my Christmas Break!

Since I didn’t want to repeat myself, and mention re-reading Harry Potter for the 10th time in one week, but I’d still love to participate in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, I decided to share with you top 8 of my organizational task I’m planning to do during the holiday break! (I know! Super exciting!)

Every year the office I work at closes for the Holiday season, and this year it’s going to be a longer break than usual, and I’m VERY ready for it! But I honestly cannot imagine myself sitting at home for two weeks in a row without doing anything. That’s why I’ve already prepared a list of all the things that needed to get organized before 2020.

Two weeks might not be enough to organize my entire life for the next year, but I surely can try, right?

READING ORGANIZATION TO-DO LIST:

  1. For the longest time, I meant to re-organize my bookshelves and try to separate read books from the unread books. But I still don’t feel comfortable separating the book series… How do you organize your bookshelves??
  2.  I also need to organize my Goodreads shelves. I often forget to add books to my TBR shelf that I mostly use as my To-Buy shelf. There is a great need for a new shelving system!
  3. Sort my book series and come up with a new way to track them. Since the Finfact website closed down this year, I’ve been looking for a new way to track my book series.

BLOGGING ORGANIZATION TO-DO LIST:

  1. This year I was able to post so much, but I don’t think that I’ll be able to keep up the number of posts I want to do every week next year. For now, I’ve been trying to post 5 times per week, from Top Ten Tuesday meme to book reviews and book tags, it seems like I have too many ideas and not enough time to do all of them. Next year, I want to reduce the number of blog posts to 3 per week, and if it happens that I manage to prepare more than it’s great!
  2. There are a number of changes I’d like to make to my blog, that I hope to do during my Christmas break (that suddenly started to feel very short!)
  3. Write those pending reviews! It would be amazing to start the new year fresh, without any pending reviews on my to-do list.

STUDYING ORGANIZATION TO-DO LIST:

  1. I mentioned earlier that my exams are slowly creeping up on me. My first priority will be to get my preparation started and going, and the schedule for studying figured out.
  2. There are also a bunch of reports I need to write, and once again, it would be so so nice to start the new year without any pending things that I could finally tick off my mental to-do list!

Maybe I will need a couple of months to sort all of this out?? And there are also many things at work that I’d love to organize before the end of the year, which would be nice to do while the office is closed! Phew… This is going to be a very BUSY Christmas break!

I will try to check in with you after the break and let you know if I actually managed to complete all of these. 😀

What are you planning to do over your Christmas Break? What books do you still need / want to read this year?

    1. Thank you! That’s true 🙂 I didn’t have my holidays yet this year, so these two weeks feel particularly good. Even though I would still need to go to the office from time to time to stay on top of things, but at least I can get there later than 9 am. Lol

  1. I would love to re-organize my bookshelves at some point. Right now they are currently just all over the place. The only real organization that I have them in is all paperbacks on one shelf and then hardcovers on another. I also have the same author together if it’s the same format (paperback/hardcover). Other then that I’ve just placed them in random spots to get them off the floor and onto the shelves, haha. This is a great to-do list, with quite a few of them that I would like to do.

    1. From what you’re saying your bookshelves seem very organized 😀 Mine are… well… all over the place. My book collection has grown substantially during the last two years, and I would love to separate my read books from my unread books, but I don’t think that’s possible… And I really don’t want to separate series. It’s going to be fun trying to figure out a new organization system. (or not…) 😀

  2. Good luck with your goals! I don’t like to separate books in a series either. I put books I’ve read vertically on my shelf and the ones I still need to read are horizontal. This way I can tell what I need to read and can still keep a series together. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

    1. OMG I love this idea! Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to think of a way to not separate series but still make the unread books stood out and this will be perfect!
Although, I’m afraid that 90% of my books will be lying horizontally 😀

      1. I hope my idea works for you! Yeah, I do have quite a books that are horizontal as well, but it is a good reminder of what I still need to read. One glance at my shelf is all it takes!

  3. I would love to reorganized my shelves as well. My problem is I have shelves scattered all through the house. If only I could have one room dedicated as a library. A girl can dream. 😉 I hope you get to cross off a ton of goals. Happy Christmas Break!

    1. Thank you, hun ❤ My to-do list seems to grow longer and longer, but today is officially my 1st day of holidays and I already managed to do some things (that were not on this list but needed to get done anyway 😀 )
Yeah… Whenever we manage to buy our apartment, I'm definitely getting one with an extra room for office / library purposes. My bookshelves are also scattered between bedroom and living room right now.

  4. I hope you can cross off most, if not all, of these items. I really hope to get ahead on my blog posts. I have different ones written and I just need to schedule them, and then finally write some others. It would be super helpful in the new year to not be so last minute all the time. haha

    1. Thank you! 🙂 Totally agree! I tend to write all my posts on the weekends, scheduling for next week. But sometimes I wish I’d have one weekend off writing blog posts that I could dedicate to something else. I hope you manage to write and schedule all of the posts!

  5. These are all great ideas!
I decided to separate my read and unread books about 3 months ago – and at first I was worried that I would hate it, but I honestly love it. Its so nice to have a organized shelf of books to choose from when I’m looking for something to read. And I really like that my regular bookshelves are full of books I’ve loved and read.

  6. My christmas break is only 2 days this year, Christmas and the day after. I doubt I will have much time to read but I would love to redo my bookshelf in my room and unhaul some books by the new year.

    1. Thank you, hun 🙂 My GoodReads shelves are not TOO messy, but I’d love to sort my ARCs, especially the new ones for 2020 in a separate shelf, and maybe create more shelf for different things I loved in the books, like “best magical system” or smth like that. I’m still working on this idea.

  7. My question is how you even manage to post so much per week??? That’s amazing! o:
I hope you manage to do everything you need to, but above all, get some rest ❤

    1. This month I actually only managed to post 3-4 times per week. But I tend to spend most of my weekend writing and posting, and doing tons of other things for the blog, which I love ofc, but sometimes I wish I had time for something else as well.
Thank you, hun ❤ I hope I get some rest in between these tasks as well. Lol
