July 2019 Wrap Up | The best reading month of the year!

I always find it difficult to write monthly wrap-ups, especially when life decides to play some pranks on me at the end of the month, making everything so much more difficult.

July began on a very high note, and overall, looking back on it, it was a great month, except a few hick-ups here and there. But most importantly, it was my best reading month so far, with a total of 11 books!

1 – July started with video games and Felicia Day streams. It was so much fun to take just one day off reading, blogging, work, and all other life stuff, and just properly relax for a little bit.

I follow Felicia Day on YouTube for many years, ever since I discovered her web series «The Guild» and re-watched it a dozen of times. However, it’s been a very long time since I watched any of her new content. She’s been playing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey on stream for many months now (all the footage is on her YouTube channel as well) and I got addicted to it, watching tons of her streams while playing some Diablo 3. The best weekend of my life!

2 – Wonderful Jenna @Bookmarkyourthoughts nominated me for the Third Annual Blogger Awards! Thank you again, hun ❤ I’m still shocked and so happy about the nomination!

3 – We went for a day to Zoomarine. If you love slides and animals, this is a perfect place for you! So many different shows, activities, pools, and slides! I loved the dolphin show, and the birds of prey, and also the aquarium with tons of different aquatic species.

4 – I had so much fun participating in the Reading Rush readathon that took place from 22nd to 28th of July! You can check my Reading Rush wrap up here. I managed to complete all of the reading challenges and even some bonus ones, like “read 1000 pages”, “read 7 books” and “read a 5-star book”.

5 – In the beginning of July I read the e-book «IGIST» by L.S. Larson, a new YA sci-fi novel that also has an app developed specifically for it. I talked about it in my review.

I was so happy when the publicity department of IGIST reached out to me and sent me the physical copy of the book so I could see for myself how the Augmented Reality feature of the app works. And it’s AMAZING! Basically, almost every chapter of the book begins with a black and white image. If you use the app’s augmented reality feature, the image comes to life! It’s mind blowing what nowadays technology can achieve.

The author of IGIST, L.S. Larson commented on my Goodreads status! Wheeeee! (I get so excited when that happens!)

6 – And some less exciting news. Sadly, my cat got ill again and spent almost a week at the vet. He is home now, but still recovering and this episode could repeat again at any moment, so we are monitoring him very closely, but I’m still very nervous and scared about what might happen. Hopefully, the meds and his new food do their magic.

I also ended at the emergency room just a few days ago with a twisted ankle. Which wasn’t a big deal, but still unpleasant to not feel my 100%.

But me and the cat are recovering, and I’m even writing blog posts. Look at me go (*hobble slowly)! 😀

7 – 3/4 Monthly goals completed!

X 1 – To prioritize! My first goal in July was to prioritize my tasks.
Didn’t happen. Honestly, I completely forgot about this goal and not sure anymore what it was exactly that I wanted to do. I wrote many reviews and left less things “for later”, so maybe I should count it as achieved anyway?
2 – To fight the reading slump!
100% achieved! I’ve been feeling the reading slump approaching since the beginning of this year, and only now I can say that I finally feel excited to read.
3 – To participate in the Reading Rush 2019 – Read-a-thon.
Yes! Yes! Yes! It was an amazing week and I’m already looking forward to the next year’s the Reading Rush readathon!
4 – To read ARCs!
I read 11 books this month, of them were ARCs. I got my NetGalley queue somewhat under control. And then went and requested some more ARCs….

July was the best reading month so far this year. I managed to finish 11 books, 7 of them during the reading rush week, added 2 books to my “2019 favorites” bookshelf on GoodReads, and overall has been feeling better about picking up new books, writing reviews on time and have my blogging and reading life somewhat organized.

  1. How could you have time to prioritize when you were so busy doing stuff! 😀 Wow, it looks like you had a full July! Damn! 11 books! Look at you go! And you say I read a lot, dude, I only read 8 books last month so you definitely got me beat!

I’m sorry to hear about your cat, that’s good that he’s on the mend now, and you as well! I took my back out in July, no idea what I did, but one small move and I could barely do anything. Luckily it didn’t last long (less than a week) and I’m good as new! 🙂
    Here’s to a great August! 😀 💞

    1. 😀 Ahaha, thank you! The Reading Rush definitely helped to boost my stats. For some reason, I really love week-long read-a-thons! ❤
Ouch! I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. Me and the cat are also much better. (I'm walking and not jumping on one leg, and he seems to be as happy as always 🙂 )

    1. Awww, thank you so much, hun ❤ It took me forever to write this post… Idk why, but wrap ups usually take so much time.
THREE very good books I reckon! 😀 I don't usually read that much, and there were some shorter books there as well *wink*

I hope you're doing well with the NEWTs challenges!

I am! I’ve read 2 of 7 but I’m also partway through two other books on my list 🙂 And I honestly have NO plans next weekend … so I’m just going to READ! I hope you are doing well too!

        1. 😀 I finished 3 so far, and started my 4th one yesterday. And I need to read 9 in total. I just need to stick to my TBR and stop getting distracted by new books.
I recently purchased Recursion by Blake Crouch, and now all I want to do is read it… lol

        2. Oh man! You got this! I have two less than you, but it still feels like a lot ha-ha! I think I will have 5 books in total done by this weekend. I’m busy during the week but I basically decided to hide from society this weekend. I have to update my TBR though since I DNF’d one … which I wish I liked but I didn’t …

        3. We had a long weekend last week and it was amazing. I got to read so much (hiding from everyone else was a must! 😀 ) But somehow, I managed to read 3 books in 4 days.
Maybe you could do a 24 hours read-a-thon this weekend and see how much you get to read. 🙂
