The Sunshine Blogger Award II | Ft. Positivity and Hogwarts House!

Thank you, lovely Bella, from All Things Annabelle for tagging me and coming up with these amazing questions!

The Rules:

1 – Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2 – Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
3 – Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4 – List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post/or on your blog.

1 – WHAT DOES POSITIVITY MEAN TO YOU?

I like to think about myself as a very positive person. I do have some gloomy moments from time to time, but when it really matters I’m usually the one saying “Okay, don’t worry, we will figure this out” and run to help. Life isn’t easy and there are often stressful or sad moments, and it’s always up to us to not let them win. That’s what positivity is for me, to stay strong and unflinching in the most stressful situations.

2 – IF YOU COULD GO FOR COFFEE WITH ONE AUTHOR TO TALK ABOUT ONE OF THEIR BOOKS WHO WOULD IT BE? AND WHAT QUESTIONS WOULD YOU ASK THEM?

This is a perfect question! I recently read the first two books in the Impossible Times trilogy by Mark Lawrence – «One Word Kill» and «Limited Wish» and oh, my! It was the most mind-bending, dark story, with so much paradox! I’d love to sit down with Mark Lawrence and ask him everything about his previous job (as a research scientist) and chat about time traveling. My first question would be: “Did you actually discover a way to travel in time???

P.S. Mark Lawrence was very nice to comment on one of my Instagram photos this week, so I asked him this question! Waiting for the answer 😀

3 – WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I’m from Ukraine, but I moved to Portugal right after finishing high-school and have been living here since. This August I will celebrate my 11 years in Portugal! Time flies!

I recently posted 28 Random Facts About Me, where I talked about being an immigrant, and many other different facts.

4 – WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG?

Uuh! This is a good one. I love to keep things organized, and when I began to read again (at the end of 2015), I wanted a program or something that would keep track of my reading, house my reviews, etc. (As it seems GoodReads wasn’t enough for me)

Back then Amino app was getting popularity in the bookish community, so I decided to download it and give it a try. My very first posts immediately landed on their feature page and got a lot of comments and likes. I was very pleasantly surprised! 😀

After blogging on Amino for a month or so, and starting my Bookstagram page, I decided to create this blog. (It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!)

5 – WHAT IS ONE BOOK YOU ALWAYS RECOMMEND?

Since I read everything from Literary Fiction to Sci-Fi, including Adult, YA, and middle-grade, my recommendations always depend on the person I’m recommending books to. But I guess the only book I think EVERYONE should read is, of course, «Harry Potter».

6 – WHAT IS ONE AUTHOR YOU ALWAYS RECOMMEND?

For many years, my go-to author was Dan Brown, and he still is. Although, with blogging, I discovered so many new authors that I love – Katherine Arden, Madeleine Miller, Chloe Benjamin, and recently, Mark Lawrence.

7 – WHAT IS THE NICEST THING SOMEONE HAS DONE FOR YOU RECENTLY? EQUALLY, WHAT’S THE NICEST THING YOU’VE DONE FOR SOMEONE ELSE RECENTLY?

Difficult question! 🙂 For me, it’s the little things that matter. It’s so easy to get impressed by some grand gesture, but what matters the most is to have love and support from my closest friends and family, and to give back, to care and be there for people that mean a lot to me

8 – WHAT HOGWARTS HOUSE ARE YOU IN?

According to Pottermore I’m Gryffindor!

Gryffindor

You probably know that some of Gryffindor’s most renowned members include Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter. But did you know the sword of Gryffindor was made a thousand years ago by goblins, or that Head of House Minerva McGonagall’s hobbies include correcting articles in Transfiguration Today and supporting the Montrose Magpies?

9 – FINALLY, DO YOU HAVE A GO-TO ACTIVITY FOR WHEN YOU’RE IN A READING SLUMP?

Reading slumps are the worst, if I have a possibility to not read books I usually just spend all of my free time on YouTube watching videos, but when I have many ARCs that have to be read asap, I just push through the slump – sometimes it helps, and sometimes it makes it even worse. 😀

The questions:

1 – What other hobbies do you have?
2 – Share one interesting fact about you!
3 – What was the last place you traveled to?
4 – What was the last book you read?
5 – What is your favorite review you’ve ever written?
6 – Share your reviewing process: From picking up the book until it goes live on your blog!
7 – How old is your blog?
8 – Do you plan something special for your next Bloogiversary?
9 – Do you love doing Tags? Why?
10 – Tell us 5 things you love about blogging or this community.
11 – And to wrap things up, recommend one book to read this summer!

the nominees:

Zezee | Anna | Ruby | Kaitlyn | Ashley | Nick | Ally | Yvonne | Diana

You may also choose the questions from my previous The Sunshine Blogger Award, if you like those better! I tried to not tag the same people, but feel free to swap the questions as you see fit.

  1. CONGRATS! 🙂 Also … I LOVE THE DESPICABLE ME GIF!! I love that series so much ha-ha! I have to agree with recommending HP; I’m actually going to re-read it this summer for fall … I’M SO EXCITED!

Good house to be in! I’m a Hufflepuff according to Pottermore ❤ I did it a couple of years ago and got Gryffindor but then I had to make a new account and ended up being Hufflepuff … which I'm TOTALLY happy about 😀

    1. I totally see you as a Hufflepuff! Almost the firendliest and eager to help others!
Me as a Gryffindor though. hm… I’m not so sure. Aren’t gryffindors supposed to be brave??? I run at a sight of the smallest spider 😀

        1. Thank you ❤ I was just remembering the spiders in the Chamber of Secrets. bbrrrr… The illustated edition has a whole 2 pages spread filled with spiders! It's probably the only page of the book I flip as quick as possible 😀

oh oh and when I just started playing WoW, I remeber how I used to ask my bf to kill the spiders for me. Ahaha
I'm over that now though. My WoW mage has slain many big spiders in her long wizarding career. 😀

        2. Oh man … that part was brutal!! I wouldn’t be able to look at those pages loL!!

I was playing Diablo the other day with my friend, and there’s one area where there are a BUNCH of spiders and I like totally freaked out so I just used a bunch of AoEs and when nuts while my friend laughed her butt off over the headset lol!

        3. Well???? They SOUND like goats AND they’re always trying to kill my character, so they can be offended!! Muah ha ha ha ha! Oh! my friend and I found the “non-existent” cow level and we laughed so hard. And we found the Easter Egg rainbow land one which was HILARIOUS (though very dark and messed up at the same time).

  2. Great answers! I love your definition of positivity! and I completely agree with recommending Harry Potter to everyone, I’m due a re-read and I’m itching to get into them again! and ah a gryffindor! I’m Slytherin, I’m not really sure why but I have decided to be proud hahaha, and watching Youtube in a reading slump is great but usually leads to me going down a Youtube rabbit hole for a good 4 hours hahaha

  3. Thanks for nominating me!! I agree that everyone should read Harry Potter. I think it’s worth reading the books that revolutionized children’s book publishing.

  4. Thank you for tagging me! 😊 I love all of your answers. I’m in a reading slump now and it’s seriously the worse. I’ve been trying to push through it by reading a little bit every day, but not forcing it if I feel like I need to put the book down. I am so glad I finally read the Harry Potter books a few years ago. I need to reread them ASAP though. It’s been too long, haha.
