The Sunshine Blogger Award

Last month I was tagged by Beth @The Books are Everywhere to do the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you so much, Beth! This is my first Sunshine award / post and I’m very excited to answer all of your questions.

The Rules:

1 – Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2 – Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
3 – Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4 – List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post/or on your blog.

1 – WHEN DO YOU READ MORE, DAY OR NIGHT?

Day! I’m usually home very late and too tired to read. Since I spend almost all of my work day staring at the screen, my eyes are pretty much dead in the evening. However, I do still get some reading in before I go to sleep. But most of my reading is done (1) during my daily driving while listening to audiobooks and (2) at the weekends.

2 – HOW MANY UNREAD BOOKS DO YOU OWN?

Too many to count? 😀

Probably almost 100. It’s been a very long time since I organized my bookshelves, mostly because I desperately need a new one. I currently have three bookshelves with two of them housing books in double line (which I hate) and also random piles of books here and there.

3 – WHICH 2019 RELEASES ARE YOU SUPER EXCITED FOR?

The two books I was the most excited for were «The Winter of the Witch» by Katherin Arden – the 3rd book in the Bear and the Nightingale series, that I bought and haven’t read yet… And also «Nyxia Unprising» by Scott Raintgen, the 3rd and final book in Nyxia series!

4 – WHICH AUTHORS ARE ON YOUR AUTOBUY LIST?

My taste has changed so much since I started this blog. But the one author I will probably always pre-order books from is Dan Brown.

I know there are a lot of people that don’t like his work, but I read and loved every single one of his books (some more, some less). He never fails to surprise, but also his books have this feeling that I’m actually learning something. The possibility to actually go and search more information on certain topic / building / place and see them with my own eyes.

5 – WHICH BOOK DO YOU HATE / DISLIKE AND EVERYONE ELSE LOVES?

The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

A few month before starting this blog, I binge read the Mortal Instruments series and fell in love with the Shadowhunters world. But since then, I haven’t really liked any of her other books. Yes, they are easy to read, and Yes, the Shadowhunter world is still very mesmerizing, but love triangles and forced LGBT representation are not for me.

6 – NAME A BOOK OR SERIES YOU’D LOVE TO SEE AS A MOVIE OR TV SHOW.

I’ve recently read the 2nd book in «School for Psychics» series and said that it would make a great TV show, but then I started watching «The Magicians» and realized that it’s basically the same concept.

I would love to see «Nevermore» turned into a movie. It would be very whimsical!

7 – HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY IN A SERIES?

More than 5. I love trilogies, because it’s usually something I can binge in a few weeks, without getting tired or bored of the same characters / world. If it’s a series I REALLY LOVE it could potentially have more than 5 books, but I wouldn’t want it to last forever. Every story has its end, and reading the last book is just as satisfying for me as starting a new series. (the relief of “phew! I’ve done it!” is very real).

8 – NAME YOUR FAVORITE BOOKISH GROUP OF FRIENDS.

Harry, Ron and Hermione. I haven’t encountered any “better” friendships yet. Only maybe Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler and Joey from «Friends», but that’s not a book. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9 – WHICH BOOK(S) YOU HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF?

The crime series for children that I used to obsessively re-read when I was younger, something similar to Nancy Drew.

But the most memorable books I’ve ever read were «Eleven Minutes» by Paulo Coelho (I had a Paulo Coelho obsession phase during my teens) and «Memoirs of a Geisha» by Arthur Golden. Maybe I shouldn’t have read them so young?

10 – WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BOOKISH MAP?

Westeros, of course! I have the big map from the box set and I’m in love with it.

the nominees:

Priyasha | Stephanie | Morrisa | Emily | Shalini | Mandy | Mia | Tiana | Kat | Courtney | Hollie

I hope you will join me on this tag, guys! And even if I didn’t tag you this time, feel free to join in on the fun!

The questions:

1 – How many book series you started but haven’t finished?
2 – What’s your favorite TV show of all time?
3 – What was the first blog post you’ve ever written?
4 – What is your favorite book genre now and was it different 5 years ago?
5 – Are you scared of big books?
6 – Describe with three words the book you are currently reading.
7 – When was your last reading slump?
8 – Do you like re-reading books?
9 – What was the most memorable book you’ve ever read?
10 – What is your perfect blogging setting?
11- Do you feel the pressure of being a book blogger?

    1. Hm.. should I do the same and put some Friends episodes running on the background?? It’s been so long since the last time I watched it! Thank you for tagging me, I loved answering your questions 🙂

        1. Me too!!! I was clutching my boyfriend’s hand the whole time!!!! When it was over, I was like: “How are we supposed to go to sleep now?!” And the next episodes will be just as epic.

I wonder if we should start re-watching the whole series, when this season ends D:

But! The 100 season 6 (I think) starts today. More things to watch 🙂

        2. Same haha!! I felt so tense throughout the whole thing that I started crying like 10 minutes before the end and didn’t stop until after it ended haha. Honestly I would definitely be up for rewatching all of it! I think it might be my favourite series ever

  1. Congrats!! I used to be a night reader, but now I’ve become a day/weekend reader 🙂

Oh my gosh … that deer GIF is too cute! I have to agree with you on Clare’s prequel trilogy. I honestly haven’t read any after the first original three she wrote … it became too much for me lol!

HP crew — so true. I also love the crew from Friends. I literally rewatch it all the time … people think I’m on glue, but I love the happy vibe about it 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for the tag, Alex! I really enjoyed reading your answers. I totally agree with you on your answer for #1. It’s only a few weekday nights that I can get together to read. And I agree about the 5 books. More than 5 books is too much for a series. It gets too drawn out at that point, I think. As much as I could read about my loves forever, it could get a bit too much. Wonderful answers, and thank you so much for the tag!! 🙂

    1. You’re welcome! Looking forward to see your answers! 🙂
I started reading the Percy Jackson series (just finished book 2) and the number of books is definitely intimidating! 😀 At least they are shorter than GoT books.
