March Goals | Or how to stay on track!

Let me start by saying that this post is not going to be a guide of any sort. More so a reminder to myself on how to stay focused on my Reading and Blogging Goals and learn to manage my time better because who doesn’t want that!

January and February weren’t bad months. Not at all. If you saw my wrap up post, they were very busy and very productive (in other aspects of my life), but that is exactly what I like. I just wish I would have enough energy to blog consistently.

Over the past two months, I’ve read a good amount of books, discovered new favorites and actually did a lot of writing. Having said this, we all know that from writing to actually posting there is a loooong way. That is exactly what I want to improve in March!Blogging Goals:

  1. Write more often. It is so easy to fall into a blogging slump or get overwhelmed by the number of Things I Want To Do VS. Things I Actually Have Time For, that something so simple as to sit and write down a few paragraphs becomes a chore. I just need to put aside the worries and write. Practice makes everything easier (even creating sentences out of words! Crazy, I know!)
  2. Dedicate time to editing and putting together blog posts. If you would have asked me three years ago how long it takes to prepare a blog post, my reply would be “less than an hour!” Apparently “Practice makes easy” doesn’t apply to blogging! Because after 200+ posts I take twice or thrice (or 100x) more time to produce anything decent. Often, it’s due to me worrying about the smallest details. Therefore, the time has come to stop collecting drafts on my Google Drive and actually put them out for everyone to see!
  3. Brainstorming ideas requires time and that is OK! Ideas don’t just come in my dreams (at least not to me). And when your mind is constantly occupied by many other things, like work, studies, learning, reading, friends, family, etc. it is very likely that ideas don’t come at all. So that is another activity I have to give a slice of my time to. (FREE ADVICE: Blog hopping can help boost your creativity levels and provide many new ideas! Being productive, while also making friends, sounds like a Win-Win to me!)
  4. Get caught up on reviews. Arrgh! This one should be THE goal of every single month. For the past year or so I haven’t been able to write all of the reviews for all the books that I read (and I don’t even read that much!). Reviews are hard, OK?! Sometimes I read a book and don’t really have anything to say about it, other than “It was alright”. Right after comes the painful staring at the blank page for many many hours. This needs to end this month.

Also, I’m currently reading Humans by Matt Haig and I got very inspired to use human words, typed in a human font, laid out consecutively in the human style. Reading Goals:

  1. NO TBR LIST. I’m not making any To-be-read lists this month. Just because I’m not even sure what I’m in the mood for. I am definitely in a good reading mood. On March 3rd I began to read the 3rd book of March which was VERY good progress. Although, I keep jumping back and forth from Fantasy to Fiction and from Fiction to Thrillers. So this month I’ll be picking up whatever I feel like. There is only one book that I’m actually planning to read and that is A Time of Blood by John Gwynne, the 2nd book in the Of Blood and Bone series.
  2. Listen to at least 1 Audiobook. Continuing my January and February trend, I would like to listen to at least 1 audiobook during my commutes.
  3. Read 10 books. This might not be possible. In fact, I only managed to read 6 books last month, but I can always hope for more, am I right? 🙂

These sound good to me! All I need to do now is actually stick to them (maybe writing them on my hand in permanent marker will actually help?). I don’t even want to start on the goals for my Instagram account. Let’s just all pretend that it’s quietly hibernating in the bookstagram’s digital cave.

What are your Reading / Blogging goals for March? How many books do you hope to read? Are there any new releases you are excited about?

  1. Good luck on those goals and happy March! 😀
March has been a busy month for me because of all the workload and today was the first day this month I had time to do something blog-related. Scheduling posts ahead of time is a life-saviour! 😛

    1. Thank you! March has been treating me quite well so far 😀 Hope it is the same for you.
Scheduling is the only possible way for me to even produce any sort of posts during the week, but that also means that I usually spend my weekends glued to the screen, typing like a crazy woman 😀
