Most Anticipated Releases | July 2018

most anticipated July 2018

Months are flying so quickly! Just “yesterday” I posted my most anticipated releases for the month of June and now it’s already the 1st of July. Somehow time has been escaping me this year. Any tips on how to make it go slower? *idea for a new blog post *wink*

July will be a great month because my most anticipated book of the year – Nyxia Unleashed by Scott Reintgen will be coming out on July 17th and I was incredibly lucky to receive advanced readers’ copy of this book!

Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.

But what if death finds him first? (Continue Reading…)

A new fantasy standalone set in 17th century London by Nadine Brandes got me captivating by (A) it’s gorgeous cover, (B) promising new magic system and (C) a lot of political intrigues!

Emmett Atwater thought Babel’s game sounded easy. Get points. Get paid. Go home. But it didn’t take long for him to learn that Babel’s competition was full of broken promises, none darker or more damaging than the last one.

Now Emmett and the rest of the Genesis survivors must rally and forge their own path through a new world. Their mission from Babel is simple: extract nyxia, the most valuable material in the universe (Continue Reading…)

My most anticipated book of the YEAR! And to make things even better, I am going to start reading my very own shiny ARC today, fingers crossed I will love the second book as much (or even better) than the first book in the Nyxia series.

Dead men tell no tales. Except to me. When I’m around, they can’t shut up.

My name is Alex April, and I see ghosts. Worse, they see me. If my paranormal-obsessed best friend Bones knew, he’d be crazy happy. But only one thing happens when I acknowledge their presence. Trouble. I’ve gotten so good at hiding my ability, everyone believes it. Even the ghosts…most of the time. (Continue Reading…)

Funny, adventurous and utterly entertaining, The Phantom Files: Twain’s Treasure is a great beginning to, what I expect to be, a collection of adventures of two friends – Alex April and Bones. I had a pleasure to read the ARC of this book in May and will be posting a more detailed review very soon!

Phoebe Lin and Will Kendall meet their first month at prestigious Edwards University. Phoebe is a glamorous girl who doesn’t tell anyone she blames herself for her mother’s recent death. Will is a misfit scholarship boy who transfers to Edwards from Bible college, waiting tables to get by. What he knows for sure is that he loves Phoebe.
Grieving and guilt-ridden, Phoebe is increasingly drawn into a religious group–a secretive extremist cult–founded by a charismatic former student, John Leal. (Continue Reading…)

First thing I noticed about this book was the most unusual and bright book cover. Then I read the blurb and had to immediately add it to my TBR list. Extremist cults, terrorism, love, and guilt – The Incendiaries was proclaimed one of the most anticipated releases of 2018 by The New York Times.

Ever since her best friend, Anna, drowned, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. A freak. A curse. A witch.

A girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears offshore and, though the girl denies it, Evie is convinced that her best friend actually survived. That her own magic wasn’t so powerless after all. And, as the two girls catch the eyes—and hearts—of two charming princes, Evie believes that she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after. (Continue Reading…)

Everyone in the bookish community has been talking about the mermaid retelling  and I won’t be an exception this time around. I am very interested to see how well this was done.

In a world where women have no rights, sisters Serina and Nomi Tessaro face two very different fates: one in the palace, the other in prison.

Serina has been groomed her whole life to become a Grace–someone to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining, subjugated example of the perfect woman. But when her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, catches the heir’s eye, it’s Serina who takes the fall for the dangerous secret that Nomi has been hiding. (Continue Reading…)

I’m not sure why, but this book is giving me very strong The Selection series vibes. I’ve been in a mood for some cheesy romantic fantasy novels and this one sounds exactly what I need right now!

Don’t love the cover art, no matter how beautiful the girls look on the cover, a more artistic approach will always be my favorite.

  1. July is a fantastic month for book releases! I’m personally excited about Sea Witch and Grace and Fury. I haven’t seen much of Fawkes anywhere but wow it sounds good. 🙂

  2. Fawkes and Grace and Fury are also one of my most anticipated releases. But there’s just so many books on my tbr pile and I’m trying to juggle between reading new releases and books that have been out for a while 😦 Too many books and not enough time!

      1. Yes! It’s becoming so much easier to fall into a reading slump because sometimes I’d rather just watch Youtube videos or TV shows rather than pick up a physical book. I’m trying to listen to more audiobooks now, so hopefully that helps me push away all the obstacles 😀
